Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  7. Scoop tablespoons of dough, roll them into balls, and then roll in powdered sugar to coat.
  8. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between them.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are set and crinkled.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
