Bread Pudding made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups stale French bread cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the milk, heavy cream, and sugar. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla and cinnamon.
  4. Place the cubed stale bread in a greased baking dish. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down lightly to ensure all pieces are soaked.
  5. If using, sprinkle raisins over the top before baking.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
