Create a Crowd-Pleasing Football Cheeseball

Football Cheeseball made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese optional
  • 1/2 cup diced green onions
  • 1/2 cup cooked crumbled bacon
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans for coating
  • Optional: 1 tsp smoked paprika for garnish

Method
 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and blue cheese (if using).
  2. Add the diced green onions, crumbled bacon, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder to the bowl, and mix until fully combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a football or ball shape, using your hands for a smooth exterior.
  4. Roll the cheeseball in the chopped nuts to coat the outside evenly.
  5. Wrap the cheeseball tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
  6. Transfer the chilled cheeseball to a serving platter and garnish with smoked paprika if desired.
  7. Serve with an array of dippers like crackers, pretzels, and fresh vegetables.
