Toss the eggplant slices with olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Arrange the seasoned eggplant on a baking sheet in a single layer.
Roast the eggplant in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway.
While the eggplant is roasting, prepare the bread and tomato slices.
Spread hummus on each slice of bread.
Layer roasted eggplant and tomato slices on top of the hummus.
Add fresh basil leaves and top with the second slice of bread.
Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
