In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, ranch seasoning, and chopped chives.
If using, fold in the chopped walnuts or pecans until evenly distributed.
Once well combined, shape the mixture into a ball using your hands.
Wrap the cheese ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least two hours to firm up.
Before serving, roll the cheese ball in additional bacon bits and chopped chives if desired.
Serve with an assortment of crackers and fresh vegetable sticks on the side.
