Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 –8 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 pound ground meat beef, lamb, or chicken
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 egg beaten

Method
 

  1. Prepare the pastry dough by mixing flour, salt, and butter.
  2. Gradually add cold water to the mixture.
  3. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. While the dough chills, prepare the filling by sautéing onions and garlic.
  5. Add ground meat and cook thoroughly; stir in spices and broth.
  6. Remove the filling from heat and let it cool slightly.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  8. Fill each circle with the meat mixture and seal the edges.
  9. Brush the pies with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  10. Bake the pies at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown.
