Delightful Heart Shaped Pizza with Stuffed Crust

Heart Shaped Pizza with Stuffed Crust made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup pepperoni slices or choice of topping
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • Italian seasoning optional

Method

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (246°C). Roll out the dough into a large circle and shape into a heart.
  6. Create the stuffed crust by folding the edges of the rolled dough over mozzarella cheese pieces and pinching to seal.
  7. Spread marinara sauce evenly over the center of the pizza, leaving a border for the crust.
  8. Add shredded mozzarella cheese on top followed by your choice of toppings, like pepperoni or vegetables.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing into it for serving.
