Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop a tablespoon of dough and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making an indent in the center.
  7. Fill each indent with a small dollop of Nutella, then top with another scoop of dough to cover.
  8. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, checking for set edges and a slightly soft center.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  10. Serve warm, and enjoy those delightful chocolate lava centers!
