Savory French Onion Beef and Noodles Dish

French Onion Beef and Noodles made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 medium onions thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Sear the beef cubes in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions to the pot and sauté until caramelized.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and add the thyme and pepper.
  5. Return the seared beef to the pot and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat.
  6. Cover and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the beef is tender.
  7. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions separately.
  8. Add the noodles to the beef mixture and stir in the butter.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
